What is Academic Advising?
Academic advising and educational planning are provided to support students in the completion of their chosen degree or certificate. Students are also helped to successfully navigate the transfer process.
This may include:
- Planning a program of study
- Selecting semester courses
- Finding academic support resources
- Preparing for transfer
- Setting goals for future learning
Academic advising at Parkland is mainly accomplished through scheduled appointments. To make an advising appointment, click on Appointment Scheduling. Students may also email their designated academic success advisor or academicadvising@parkland.edu from your Parkland student email account. On Wednesdays (Walk-In Wednesdays), all advising is done by walk-in in room U267 or by calling 217/351-2219 from 9 am – 4 pm; during the rest of the week, walk-ins may be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
