Parkland's Guarantee

Parkland students who complete the requirements for a baccalaureate-oriented associate degree can transfer all credits in courses selected with the assistance of a Parkland Academic Success Advisor to a specified, IAI participating, four-year college or university in Illinois as planned. If a course selected with the assistance of an advisor via student or academic planning does not transfer, Parkland will refund the tuition for that course.

*In some cases, a course may not fulfill the degree requirements of the IAI transfer program and would be considered an elective

Illinois Articulation Initiative

Parkland participates in the Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI), a comprehensive statewide transfer agreement among colleges and universities in Illinois.  IAI guarantees the transfer of accepted general education courses to and from participating colleges and universities within the state.

For a list of Parkland general education courses that are part of the IAI agreement, see the GECC webpage.  All courses that are options in the GECC sequence are covered by this transfer agreement.  For additional information about Parkland’s participation in IAI, click here.

Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG)

The Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) program is a partnership between specific Community Colleges and the University of Illinois at Chicago that offers a guaranteed transfer pathway to several UIC programs. TAG offers certainty to parents and students who want to transfer to UIC rather than attend as first year students. For more Information about the TAG program, visit tag.uic.edu, or contact Myriah Benner-Coogan at mbenner@parkland.edu or 217-351-2478.

2+2 Agreements

Parkland College has developed 2+2 Agreements with selected universities to provide students the opportunity to obtain bachelor’s degrees in technical and other specific fields. Under the 2+2 Agreement, Parkland graduates who have earned Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degrees in specific occupational programs or A.A. or A.S. degrees with specific course work can transfer to the cooperating four-year institution, usually with junior standing.

2+2 Agreements only differ from regular transfers due to specific degree types.
For more information on which schools and programs we have a 2+2 Agreement with, see the Transfer Agreements section above or contact the department chair for your area of interest.

General Education Certificate

Parkland offers the opportunity to earn a General Education Certificate (GEC). In pursuing a GEC, you will take the general education classes accepted by all public four-year institutions and many private institutions as part of the General Education Core Curriculum (GECC) in the state of Illinois. This certificate can be completed in one year, and you won’t be required to take lower-division general education requirements at your transfer school, so you can start taking major-specific courses as soon as you transfer. Visit our GECC page to learn more about Parkland’s program, or see itransfer.org for more information on the GECC.

Take individual courses required by your transfer school

Schools may require other pre-requisites for transfer admission outside of general education coursework. You should consult with your Parkland advisor and the four-year institution you plan on transferring to. For more information on how your courses will transfer nationally visit transferology.com.
