Human Library

Experience real stories.

Bring an open mind.

Come and 'borrow' our Human Books for 25 minutes of story/dialogue:

  • Hear from people of all backgrounds who have experienced violence, prejudice, stereotyping, and more
  • Step into someone else's story

We’ve been told not to judge a book by its cover for we might miss out on an amazing story. On April 5, from 1:00 – 3:00 pm, in the U-wing, the Diversity committee and Human Resources will be on a journey with selected group of individuals (books) as they share their amazing stories. The setting of the event will be informal, it would be more like a conversation. The audience will be listening to multiple personal stories from a diverse group of individuals and there will be an allotted time after the storytelling for questions and dialogue from the audience. This event is designed to make Parkland College a more inclusive and diverse environment where people are not judged like a book by its cover.
