Selective Admissions Requirements

Medical Assisting Program

Step 1: Submit Transcripts

All transcripts must be sent from the original institution directly to Parkland at admissions@parkland.edu

  • High School or GED (if high school transcripts were previously sent prior to graduation, have them re-sent).
  • Any college transcripts other than Parkland. Request final fall transcripts be sent in January.

Step 2: Verify Transcript Receipt 

Call Admissions at 217/351-2482 to verify that they received your transcripts and to see if you need assessment testing. If you do not need assessment testing, you may skip step 3. 

Step 3: Assessment Testing

Visit parkland.edu/assessment for more information on assessment testing.

  • Reading – place into CCS 099
  • English – must be eligible to enroll in ENG 101

Are you a non-native speaker of English? If so, you must take the TOEFL and achieve a minimum or greater score of 18-20-22-20. This must be completed prior to applying.

  • Math – place out of MAT 059 within the past two years

Step 4: Meet with an Advisor

Schedule appointment with an Academic Success Advisor for Pre-Health Professions. Visit room U267, call 217/351-2219, or book an appointment online to review assessment scores and create a plan of study.
