DOCTOR’S ORDERS.
Before enrolling in Aviation and flying an aircraft, you’ll need to obtain an aviation medical certificate from an FAA-certified aviation medical examiner (AME). The medical exam certificate must be received by the Institute of Aviation prior to course registration.
3 classes of aviation medical certificates:
- Class 1 (most restrictive)
- Class 2
- Class 3 (least restrictive)
Parkland College requires that you pass a Class 3 physical examination—at minimum—before enrolling in your first Aviation course. Any class of medical certificate with a student pilot certificate is acceptable.
