Parkland College and the Parkland Foundation, along with private donors offer a variety of scholarships to Parkland students. During the 2019-2020 school year, students received over $462,000 in scholarships! Availability, deadlines, and award amounts vary. Find more scholarship information here. Fine & Applied Arts General Scholarships

Parkland College Fine and Applied Arts Activities Scholarship

This scholarship will cover 50% of full-time tuition and fees for high school graduates, or those with high school equivalency, who participate in Fine and Applied Art activities.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and permanent resident of Illinois

  • Must maintain full-time student status
Must successfully complete a minimum of 12 credit hours each semester
Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0

Champaign Rotary Vo-Tech Scholarship 

$500
Scholarships awarded for students in the following majors:
Art & Design; Art Education; Mass Communications; Photography; Communications Technology; Radio-TV/Video; Graphic Design; Music Education; Music Performance; Theatre Arts
  • Must be a second year Fine and Applied Arts student
  • 
Must have full-time student status and have completed 24 credit hours
Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0

Art & Design Program Scholarships

Juanita L. Gammon Graphic Design Scholarship
$250

Must be a full-time, degree-seeking Parkland Graphic Design student
Must have sophomore standing with 30 credit hours completed
Must be enrolled in two Parkland Graphic Design courses
Must have a cumulative 3.0 GPA

An essay on "Why I chose Graphic Design as a Career" must be submitted with the application and two letters of recommendation. A portfolio of work is required. (Apply in fall for spring)

Don Lake Art Scholarship

This scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees, and supplies for Art studio courses. For more information check with the Fine and Applied Arts Department, C120.

Lykins Family Art Scholarship
$500

Established by the Gregory Lykins family to assist students pursuing a 4-year degree in Art with an Associate in Fine Arts Majoring in Art & Design or Art History at Parkland College.

Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better at Parkland College
Must demonstrate financial need
Must complete 60 hours at Parkland or a combination of 60 hours at Parkland and another institution (with the last 30 hours at Parkland). Must have achieved this within a 21-month period.

Memory Lane Photography Scholarship
$500

Must be a resident of District 505
Must be enrolled in the Parkland Photography Program
Must demonstrate financial need
Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA

Samples of photographic work are required.

Underwood-Alger Scholarship
$850

Provides funds for tuition, fees, and books

  • Must be a full-time Parkland student enrolled in the Art & Design transfer program
    Must demonstrate financial need

Matthew Farrell Memorial Scholarship
An award is given for the fall and one for the spring. The award is $1,250.  

Scholarship for an incoming full-time Parkland student from Urbana, Central or Centennial High School with a minimum 3.0 GPA and in the Art and Design or Art Education program. To apply fill out the Parkland Scholarship Application.

For students enrolled in Broadcasting Curriculum

David M. Jones Memorial Speech Contest Scholarship
The annual spring speech contest scholarship was established by the Fine and Applied Arts faculty and staff in memory of Dr. David M. Jones, Department Chair of Fine and Applied Arts from 1988-2002.
  • Contestants must be current Parkland students who are enrolled in or have taken a Communication course at Parkland College.
  • Original persuasive speeches will be performed for a panel of judges.
  • Students demonstrating superior public speaking skills will be awarded cash scholarships.
Visual Communication Design Program Scholarships

Music Program Scholarships

Parkland Fine & Applied Arts Music 

50% tuition and fees

Our scholarships are open to high school graduates, those with high school equivalent or above education, and students currently attending Parkland College. Scholarships are awarded in May on a semester basis and may be renewed for up to four semesters.

All scholarship students must:
  • Carry at least 12 credit hours (full time) at Parkland each semester.
  • Maintain a 3.0 overall grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) starting from the semester the scholarship is awarded/accepted.
  • Start the application process by completing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online.
  • Download the music scholarship application, print it out, and send it to the Financial Aid office in U286.
  • Must be a degree-seeking student enrolled in the Music A.F.A. program.
  • A 6 hour per week requirement of service to the FAA Department or Music program.

Theatre Program Scholarships
Parkland College Theatre Scholarship
This scholarship covers 50% of full-time tuition and fees for a maximum of two consecutive years (including two summer terms).
Apply in spring for next academic year.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen and permanent residents of Illinois.
  • Must maintain full-time student status
  • Must successfully complete a minimum of 12 credit hours each semester
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5
  • Students who break their enrollment period either by not meeting the minimum requirements for continuation or not completing their academic program in two years will not be eligible for an extension.
  • Recipients must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each academic year.

Theatre Scholarship Application

Parkland College Theatre Production Award (Bernie Works)
$200
Criteria for this award are determined by the committee which also selects the recipients. Apply in spring.

Randy A Millas Theatre Scholarship
Established in memory of Randall A. Millas, a Parkland College theatre student.v Funded by the family of Randy Millas and income from the annual student theatre production.  Awarded to an outstanding second-year theatre student. Apply in spring.

  • Must have, at minimum, a 3.0 GPA.


Prospectus Scholarship
The Prospectus Scholarship covers 50% of tuition and fees for students involved with the Prospectus, Parkland’s student newspaper. This scholarship is for one fall and spring semester.

  • Must be a degree-seeking student at Parkland College
  • Complete at least 12 credit hours at Parkland each semester
  • Maintain a 2.5 overall grade point average
  • Fulfill the work requirements of 10 hours per week for 15 weeks of the semester as identified in the agreement to be signed on acceptance of the scholarship
  • Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
