Parkland Music Ensembles Offer Free Early Spring Concerts

Come out to hear great sounds for spring

Parkland College will offer free early spring concert performances by several ensembles.

"Magnificent Musical Pilgrimage"
A joint concert by the Parkland Chamber Singers and Parkland Guitar Ensemble
Saturday, March 4, 3 p.m.
Parkland’s Harold and Jean Miner Theatre

The Parkland Chamber Singers, directed by Dr. Franklin Gallo, will perform "Sicut Cervus" by Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina; "Where the Light Begins" by Susan LaBarr; and "I Remember" by Sarah Quartel; "Sing Gently" by Eric Whitacre; and "1000 Beautiful Things" by Annie Lennox, Arr. Craig Hella Johnson
 
Director Dr. Young Kim will lead the Parkland Guitar Ensemble in performing "All in a Garden Green" (16th century English air); "Sinfonia No. 8" by Johann Sebastian Bach; "Triste" by Antonio Carlos Jobim; "Slurvy" by Dave Frackenpohl; and "Opening" by Philip Glass.

Thursday, March 9, 8 p.m.
Parkland U-wing cafeteria

The Parkland Concert Band, directed by Dr. Matthew Dixon, will perform "Halcyon Hearts, An Overture of Love" by Katahj Copley; "Second Suite in F", by Gustav Holst; and "Suite Francaise" by Darius Milhaud.
