College for Kids, Summer Discovery Registration Opens Feb. 15

Popular College for Kids summer camp sessions start June 19, July 10

Parkland College is once again hosting summer fun and learning opportunities for area youth, as registration opens for its 2023 College for Kids and Summer Discovery camps.

Registration begins Wednesday, Feb. 15 for elementary, middle, and high school students. An early bird discount of $15 per registered class is available until March 14 for College for Kids.

College for Kids. Hosted by Parkland College Community Education, the popular two-week, half-day College for Kids camp offers around 50 different enrichment classes for students ages 6-13, with subjects ranging from robotics, coding, science, and engineering to visual, culinary, and performing arts.

Two sessions are offered for CFK: June 19–29 (Session I) with a registration deadline of June 5; and July 10–20 (Session II) with a registration deadline of June 26. CFK classes meet Monday through Thursday at 12:45 p.m.–2:45 p.m. and 3 p.m.–5 p.m.

Summer Discovery. The Summer Discovery program includes exciting camps for youth ages 13-18, designed to challenge students while they have fun. Students will explore new interests and potential careers in interactive, hands-on courses.

New this year is an exciting Ag Tech Academy, where students ages 14-17 will learn about topics such as agronomy and horticulture, applicator, diesel motor trucks, construction equipment, agriculture mechanics and precision agriculture in Parkland’s state-of-the-art facilities. Also new this year is the addition of Girls’ Guest Biology Camp, for ages 12-15. Students will learn about several creatures and their ecological significance while gaining confidence in their dissection skills. The popular Stethoscopes and Scrubs: Health Professions Exploration is expanding the length of the camp. Other camps include topics such as culinary arts, music, automotive, machining and welding, and our exciting vet med camp.

All classes are taught by professional educators in small class sizes, providing personalized attention for each student. The innovative STEAM-model gives students of all ages the opportunity to explore something new, get excited about learning, and discover new interests and hobbies in a safe and comfortable environment.

Registration. Registrations are accepted on a first come, first served basis starting Feb. 15. Summer Discovery camps run for 1 or 2 weeks; class times, dates, and registration deadlines vary depending on the camp. A few half-day options are available. Camps begin June 6 and run through July 29.
