Parkland Theatre to Hold Auditions for Upcoming Shows, Aug. 27

Auditions for "The Story" and "A Christmas Story" start Saturday, August 27

The Parkland College Theatre will hold auditions for the first two shows of the fall season on Saturday, August 27 at the theatre. Auditions for "The Story" and "A Christmas Story" take place from 9 a.m. to noon. All auditionees should fill out an audition form and prepare from the sides provided at parkland.edu/auditions. "A Christmas Story" director Chelsea Collier is casting actors ages eight and older. Those auditioning for the roles of children are asked to prepare an additional memorized piece of choice from 30 to 60 seconds. "The Story" director Latrelle Bright is casting actors ages 15 and older. Auditionees do not need to prepare an additional memorized piece. Community members, Parkland College students, and University of Illinois students of all races, ethnicities, and gender identities are encouraged to audition, with the expectation that auditionees are comfortable reading, memorizing lines, and portraying the gender of the character. Performances for "The Story" will run October 13 to 23 in the Parkland Theatre Second Stage. Performances for "A Christmas Story" will run December 1 to 11 in the Harold and Jean Miner Theatre. Additional questions should be addressed to operations assistant HeatherAnn Layman at hlayman@parkland.edu. For more information about the Parkland Theatre, visit parkland.edu/theatre.
