Community Education at Parkland College Wins International Award
The award was only one of ten given at LERN’s annual conference in 2024
Community Education at Parkland College has won an international award in lifelong learning.
Amy Fleshner, Associate Director of Community Education, accepted the award through the Learning Resources Network (LERN), the leading association in community and continuing education.
"Community Education is thrilled to be recognized by LERN for doing more with less and doing it well," Fleshner said. "Our Operations team is phenomenal and so important to the success of our department. They are often the first point of contact for our students and help set the tone for their lifelong learning adventure.”
The award was only one of ten given at LERN’s annual conference in 2024, attended by 1,500 professionals in lifelong learning from four countries.
“The award is for innovation in the field of community education and serving communities,” noted LERN President William A. Draves. “These awards enhance the quality and involvement in lifelong learning, an absolutely critical component to individual and community quality of life and prosperity in this century."
Draves further said: “The Parkland Community Education award is especially outstanding, since every organization can adopt this best practice."
