Parkland College CTE to Host FREE Career-Exploration Workshop October 13, 2023

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Parkland College Career and Technical Education will host a FREE career-exploration workshop for area high school students featuring its Land Surveying and Construction Management programs.

WHAT:      Free CTE Land Surveying and Construction Workshop
WHO:        High School Students, Parkland College CTE instructors
WHERE:    Parkland College on Mattis, 1315 N. Mattis Ave., Champaign
WHEN:      Friday, October 13, 2023, 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

DETAILS: Students will participate in hands-on learning opportunities. They will:

• gain practical skills in surveying technology and construction while building real-world projects guided by Parkland’s expert faculty.
• use precise GPS equipment to create elevation maps to lay out a building location.
• build walls for a shed utilizing proper planning guidelines and tool usage.

This workshop requires active student participation. A safety release form is required for each student which can be brought on the day of the workshop. The workshop will include lunch.
