Parkland Presents Mac Beth Opens September 28
Parkland Second Stage Theatre to Present Mac Beth
Champaign, Ill. --- Mac Beth adapted by Erica Schmidt from Macbeth by William Shakespeare and directed by Mathew Green, comes to the Parkland Second Stage Theatre, September 28-October 8.
Mac Beth is the story of seven students from an all-girls prep school, who gather in an abandoned lot to stage their own DIY Macbeth. As they do, fantasy seeps into reality, and things take a very surprising turn. Erica Schmidt has recontextualized the classic text into a slick, brash, youthful, and streamlined (90 minutes, no intermission) telling that shines a light on the ferocity of adolescence, as well as the seemingly ubiquitous violence in America's school culture.
Mathew Green directs a cast that includes: Guinevere Brown, Kimmy Schofield, Julia Clavadetscher, Rebecca Strom, Courtney Malcolm, Grace Taylor, Destiny Jording, and Benji Davis.
Performances will take place in the Parkland Second Stage Theatre September 28, 29, 30, and October 6, 7 at 7:30 p.m. October 1 and 8 at 3 p.m. This show is rated Teen for adult content and language.
