Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast April 13
Event to celebrate National Volunteer Week, thank community volunteers
To celebrate National Volunteer Week (April 7-13), Parkland College's Project READ and the Center for Community Engagement will host a Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast Saturday, April 13 at 10 a.m. in Room C134 on the Parkland campus.
"The breakfast is designed to express our gratitude for the kind service of the Parkland volunteers who make a positive impact in our community," said Amanda Harris, program manager for Project READ. "We invite the adult volunteer literacy tutors of Project READ, the volunteers of the Garden Hills Homework Club, the Alternative Spring Break volunteers who are heading for Flint Michigan, our Wesley Food Pantry volunteers, and all of the volunteer participants in our Parkland community."
Project READ currently serves 250 adult learners in District 505, with 56 certified tutors assisting in the field. To become a project READ volunteer, visit parkland.edu/Main/Academics/Departments/Adult-Education/Literacy-Services-Project-READ.
