Ty Rybarczyk Named NJCAA All-American
Cobra freshman's 0.96 ERA ranked fourth in NJCAA
Parkland College Baseball'sTy Rybarczyk was named a 2019 Second-Team All-American June 11 by the National Junior College Athletic Association. The freshman right-handed pitcher led the Parkland pitching staff this year with an 8-1 record and a 0.96 ERA that broke the school record and ranked fourth nationally.
Based on a seven-inning and 35-inning minimum, Rybarczyk posted the lowest earned-run average in Parkland baseball history with a 0.75 ERA. Breaking Bo Weir's 2012 record of 0.82, Rybarczyk only allowed six earned runs over 56 innings pitched. In nine starts this season, the first-year Cobra tossed five complete games including three shutouts, which ranked eighth and second in Division II.
The Region 24 Pitcher of the Year, Rybarczyk led the region in ERA (0.96) and wins (8). In 47 regular season innings against Region 24 opponents, he allowed three earned runs (0.57 ERA) with 40 strikeouts to just seven walks. Despite taking his lone loss of the season in the Region 24 Tournament, Rybarczyk threw his first collegiate nine-inning complete game. Striking out 11 Lincoln Land batters, he shutout the Loggers over the final eight innings while allowing just four hits.
Rybarczyk was one of three players from Region 24 selected, joined by fellow Second Team selection Vinnie Massaglia (OF, Illinois Central) and Third Team honoree Spencer Walker (P, Lincoln Land).
