"The Wedding Singer" to close 2024–25 Parkland Theatre Season

Tickets cost $25 for adults and $18 for students, youth, seniors and veterans

"The Wedding Singer" will close the 2024–25 Parkland College Theatre season at the Harold and Jean Miner Theatre, April 17–May 4.

The production will take the audience back to a time when hair was big, collars were up, and a wedding singer might just be the coolest guy in the room. Based on the hit Adam Sandler movie, the sparkling new score does for the '80s what "Hairspray" did for the '60s. Just say yes to the most romantic musical in twenty years.

It's 1985, and rock star wannabe Robbie Hart is New Jersey's favorite wedding singer. He's the life of the party until his own fiancée leaves him at the altar. Shot through the heart, Robbie makes every wedding as disastrous as his own. As luck would have it, Julia, a winsome waitress who wins his affection, is about to be married to a Wall Street shark. Unless Robbie can pull off the performance of a decade, the girl of his dreams will be gone forever.

With music by Matthew Sklar, book by Chad Beguelin and Tim Herlihy, and lyrics by Beguelin, Jacob Deters directs a cast including Jake Fava, Kirby Toalson, Russell Zillman, Jack Bertrand, Anna Mettes, Griffin Megeff , Erin Kaufman, Diane Pritchard, and HeatherAnn Layman.

The ensemble will feature Tyler Gumm, Jessica Hamilton, Yeshua Harris, Erica Holmes, Kiah Johnson, Blake Kingsriter, Tina Radi, Elisabeth Sandoval, Jera Sotero, and Willow Weisman. Caitlin Richardson will direct the music, and Whitney Havice will choreograph.

Performances take place April 17, 18, 19, 25, 26, and May 2, 3 at 7:30 p.m., and April 27 and May 4 at 3 p.m. The performance is rated teen for adult language and content.

Tickets cost $25 for adults and $18 for students, youth, seniors and veterans. Opening night is half-price of an adult ticket at $12.50. Tickets are on sale now.

The 2025–26 season will begin in October with "Out of Order" followed by "Moon Over Buffalo," 'Romeo and Juliet," and "Anastasia."
