STEM Career Exploration and Symposium

Parkland College and University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign to Host Symposium

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Parkland College in partnership with the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign will host a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Career Exploration and Symposium Wednesday, July 26 from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on the University of Illinois campus in the Illini Union. 

The STEM Career Exploration and Symposium is designed to provide early-stage students, high school and community college students, and their educators, including teachers, faculty, staff, and administrators, the opportunity to learn more about careers in STEM and the role of undergraduate research in preparing students for these careers. 

The program will include presentations by current undergraduate researchers from across STEM disciplines, as well as opportunities for participants to connect with STEM professional organizations and potentital STEM employers. Guests will enjoy panel discussions on how to participate in undergraduate research that has impacted career development and how to successfully apply for these opportunities.

The deadline to register is Monday, July 10, 9 a.m. as the symposium will include breakfast and lunch. This symposium is an Illinois State Board of Education-approved professional development hours event for teachers. There is limited free parking available for the symposium. If you are bringing a large group in a van or bus, please contact Britt Carlson to make parking arrangements.
