Parkland Theatre to Present Molière's "The Miser" in February

Performances are scheduled in the Parkland Second Stage Theatre February 20-23

Parkland Theatre will present "The Miser" on the college's Second Stage Theatre this month.

Populated by some of Molière's most memorable characters, "The Miser" stands as one of the greatest comic masterpieces of all time. Full of misunderstanding, revelations, double-dealing servants, and thwarted lovers, this classic, over-the-top comedy is Molière at his best.

The Miser centers around the age-old conflict of love versus money. The miser of the title is the elderly Harpagon, a wealthy man who thinks his children cost him too much money and must be married off. He finds an old man who won’t demand a dowry for his daughter, and a rich widow for his son. Unfortunately for Harpagon, the kids have already fallen in love with penniless servants.

The miser’s obsession with money spells disaster for everyone around him until a last-minute secret unites the couples in true love.

Mike O’Brien directs a cast including Maya Baker, Sara Perez, Sophie Accardo, Willow Weisman, Jera Sotero, Braedon Arnett, Ry Cline, Ashley Buck, Spencer Baker, Finn Windelborn, Hope Varvel, Yeshua Harris, Macey Moody, and Clover Culpepper.

Performances are scheduled in the Parkland Second Stage Theatre February 20, 21, 22 at 7:30 p.m. and February 23 at 3 p.m. The performance is rated teen for adult language and content. All tickets cost $10 and may be purchased at tickets.parkland.edu.

Parkland Theatre wants all of its guests to have an enjoyable experience. Both theatres are wheelchair accessible and have accommodations for patrons with limited mobility and visual or hearing impairments. Guests who anticipate needing any type of accommodation are asked to indicate it when purchasing tickets.
