Parkland Students Release New Music Through Perimeter Road

Perimeter Road Sound Recordings is the student-staffed record label on campus

A few Parkland College students are making airwaves with new music recently released through Perimeter Road Sound Recordings, the student-staffed record label on campus.

Local band Triality released a new song in December 2024 called "Lovestruck," their first official release. Faculty advisor Adam Porter described the song as "funky rock with great energy." Parkland students Zachary Hay plays drums and bass guitar on the tune, Issac Carley plays lead guitar, Tim Dager plays rhythm guitar, and current Parkland Student Trustee Jaden Campbell sings the lead vocals.

"This is such a funky and fun song," said Porter. "The band was a real pleasure to work with. Each member came into the studio ready to knock out their parts like pros, which is always greatly appreciated by aspiring audio engineers."

Porter added: "Shout out to Zach, who is not only a record label member, but also the drummer in Triality. He was super helpful with planning and coordinating sessions with the other band members. This is their first release, and I see tons of potential for the group to release more great music in the future. Triality is just the perfect college town band."

The song can be streamed on Perimeter's Road's bandcamp page or on any streaming service like Spotify or Apple Music.

Perimeter Road also released the song "Whatever Happens" by Parkland alum Henri Turner in November 2024. This song is also available on all streaming platforms.

"I had known Henri as a student from my music business and music recording classes, as well as a label member interested in recording and mixing," Porter said. "Once I heard his home demo of the song, I just knew it deserved a proper release."

Porter said the recording with the label turned into a true collaborative effort. Henri played guitar parts and sang the vocals, while other students were brought in to play bass, drums, and sing background vocals. The cover art is from a photoshoot with Tayon Swift, a record label member and aspiring photographer.

As the sudent-staffed record label, Perimeter Road provides students who are interested in the music business an opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills they learn in the classroom to real-world experiences. Selected up and coming musicians are given an opportunity to record, release and promote their music for free.

The record label actively recruits employees and artists at the beginning and end of each semester. Students who are interested in being a part of the staff can submit an application to the record label coordinator.
