Parkland Student-Athletes Earn Combined 3.28 GPA in Fall 2024
Parkland College Athletics has announced the academic achievements of Cobra student-athletes in the Fall 2024 semester
Parkland College Athletics has announced the academic achievements of Cobra student-athletes in the Fall 2024 semester, including a high combined GPA.
A total of 153 Cobra student-athletes earned a combined overall Cobra Athletics GPA of 3.28 in Fall 2024.
The Cobra Softball team once again earned the Cobra Highest Team GPA with a 3.65. A total of six other teams earned a GPA above 3.0, including Volleyball (3.58), Women's Basketball (3.43), Golf (3.43), Men's Soccer (3.32), Baseball (3.26), and Women's Soccer (3.04).
A total of 33 individual student-athletes earned a perfect 4.0 GPA in Fall 2024, about 22% of the Cobra Athletic Program. These student-athletes include:
- Baseball: Alexander Schimmel, Collin Cirks, Sam Foulke, Cade Starrick, Garrett Cox
- Women's Cross Country & Half Marathon: Rebekah Maxwell
- Men's Basketball: Patrick Graham
- Women's Basketball: Siarah Brown, Noa Nounou, Stacie Vonderheide
- Golf: Issac Molloy
- Softball: Claire Black, Maddie Gourley, Abbey Horeis, Nicole Sinks, Tori Thomas, Jordyn Turner
- Men's Soccer: Juliano Baptiste, Ebenezer Boti, Jonas Martinez, Matteo Puli
- Women's Soccer: Luciana Alvarez, Jenna Clemmons, Flynn LeMaire, Audrey Marshall, Lera Wilson
- Volleyball: Addie Beekman, Madison McCreary, Anna McEwen, Emma McEwen, Lilli Montgomery, Addie Roesch, Jami Wallace
Additionally, a total of 73 athletes (48%) made the Dean's List, earning a GPA in the range of 3.5–4.0. Out of the 153 student athletes, 115 (75%) earned a GPA at or above a 3.0. Of the total completed courses, 85% of those received a letter grade of A or B, and 96% of those received a letter grade of A, B, or C.
Outside of the classroom, some Cobra Athletics highlights last semester include Volleyball finishing in fifth place at the 2024 NJCAA DII National Tournament, being Central District A Champions and M-WAC Champions, and finishing the Fall 2024 season with a 51-4 record.
Men’s Soccer earned the Region 24 Central District #1 Seed. Women’s Soccer finished their final three regular season matches with a record of 1 win, 1 loss, and 1 tie. The Golf team won 3 of 5 tournaments in the fall season. Women’s Cross Country & Half Marathon competed in five meets in their inaugural fall season.
Women’s Basketball ranked in the top 25 NJCAA DII Poll throughout November and December of 2024. Men’s Basketball currently ranks #5 in the NJCAA DII Poll with a 14-1 record.
