Parkland College's spring concert season continues May 4 and 5 with concerts from the Parkland Chamber Singers, Orchestra, Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, and Guitar Ensemble.
"Rhythms of Renewal" A Joint Concert by Parkland Chamber Singers, BACH choir, Heritage, and Centennial High School choir.
Saturday, May 4, 3 p.m.
Urbana First United Methodist Church (304 S. Race St., Urbana)
The Parkland Chamber Singers, directed by Dr. Frank Gallo, will perform "I Love You/What A Wonderful World" arranged by Craig Hella Johnson; "Ob-la-di, Ob-la-da" words and music by John Lennon and Paul McCartney, arranged by Bill Ives; "The Times They Are A Changin'" words and music by Bob Dylan, arranged Adam Podd; and "Let My Love Be Heard" by Jake Runestad.
The BACH Choir, conducted by Dr. Sarah Riskind, will perform "I Love My Love" a Cornish folk song arranged by Gustav Holst; "Auf dem See" by Felix Mendelssohn; "Summer is Gone" by Samuel Coleridge Taylor; "Come Unto These Yellow Sands" by Amy Beach; and "O schöne Nacht" by Johannes Brahms.
The Heritage Concert Choir, conducted by Justin Lee, will perform "Yonder Come Day" arranged by Adam and Matt Podd, "God Be With You 'til We Meet Again" by Kyle Pedersen, and "Sisi Kushangilia" arranged by Victor Johnson.
The Centennial Choir, directed by Stefanie Eustice, will perform "O Love" by Elaine Hagenberg, "Daemon Irrepit Callidus" by Gyorgy Orban, and "Carry the Light" by Andy Beck
All choir groups will conclude the concert with "Baba Yetu" from Sid Meier’s Civilization IV by Christopher Tin, and a Swahili Adaptation of “The Lord’s Prayer” by Chris Kiagiri.

The Parkland Wind Ensemble, directed by Dr. Jonathan Beckett, will perform "Capriccio Espagnol" by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov (1844–1908) transcribed by Mark Hindsley, "Two German Dances" by Ludwig von Beethoven (1770–1827) arranged by Howard Kilbert, and selections from "The Phantom of the Opera" by Andrew Lloyd Webber, arranged by Warren Barker.
The Parkland Orchestra, directed by Dr. Rodney Mueller, will perform "Pomp and Circumstance Marches, Op. 39, No. 4 in G Major" by Edward Elgar (1857–1934), "Cello Concerto in E minor, Op. 85" by Edward Elgar (1857–1934), "Overture From The Pirates Of Penzance or The Slave of Duty" by Sir Arthur Sullivan (1842–1900), "Danse Négre" From the African Suite, Op. 35, No. 4 by Samuel Coleridge-Taylor (1875–1912).
The Parkland Concert Band, directed by Dr. Matthew Dixon, will perform "March from Symphonic Metamorphosis on Themes of Carl Maria von Weber" by Paul Hindemith; "Arabian Nights" by Paul Yoder; "Blue Moon" by Richard Rodgers, arranged by Warren Barker; and "Dream Machine" by Katherine Bergman.

Urbana Free Library
The Parkland Guitar Ensemble, directed by Dr. Young Kim, will perform "Rockin' in the Free World" by Neil Young; "Água de Beber" by Antonio Carlos Jobim; "Oh Shenandoah," traditional; and "Honeysuckle Rose" by Thomas "Fats" Waller.
