Parkland College to Host Regional Science Olympiad March 2

Central Illinois middle and high school students will compete in Science Olympiad on March 2 at Parkland.

Central Illinois middle and high school students will compete in the regional 2024 Science Olympiad tournament on Saturday, March 2 at Parkland College.

Teams of students will be working hands-on to solve problems across a variety of disciplines, including biology, chemistry, and technology. They will be studying fossils, solving crimes, and identifying constellations. The top teams will get a chance to compete at the state tournament, which takes place at the University of Illinois on April 20.

During regionals, each team will participate in 23 events held across campus. The gym in the Dodds Athletic Complex will host flight and vehicle events, while the Flag Lounge and Gallery Lounge in the X wing will have students building towers and rollercoasters.

Science Olympiad award ceremonies begin in the Miner Theatre at 3:15 p.m. for middle school students and in the gym at 4 p.m. for high school students.
