Parkland College to Honor Veterans in a Ceremony Friday, November 10

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Parkland College honors the women and men who serve in the U.S. military and veterans. The college invites the community to attend its 2023 Veterans Day ceremony on Friday, November 10, at 11 a.m. in the cafeteria area of the Student Union (U building).

Parkland's ceremony includes the singing of the National Anthem by Parkland students Cadin Dozier and Sydney Philips; the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance led by Charles Mingee, a Parkland student and Navy veteran; a welcome by Vice President for Student Services Michael Trame; and the presentation of campus veterans and order of service by Joshua Stone, a Parkland student and Navy veteran.  The featured speaker for the event will be Capt. Trey Coffey, a veteran of the U.S. Army. Guests will observe a moment of silence, with the playing of Taps, before closing remarks by Jacob Olson, a Parkland student and Marine and Army veteran.  The 2023 Veterans Day observance is sponsored by the Student Veterans Association at Parkland (SVAP).
