Parkland College Community Education Wins International Award

Parkland College Community Education website wins LERN award.

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Parkland College Community Education has won a 2024 International Award in lifelong learning for Best Home Page and Website by the Learning Resources Network (LERN), the largest association in lifelong learning in the world.

In announcing Parkland's award, LERN President William A. Draves noted: "The home page is well-organized and not overwhelming, with great menus. It is one of the better uses of a Lumens registration home page as well. Very visual and well-designed. Parkland collected great data showing increase in views and users."

The award was only one of 20 given at LERN's annual conference recently attended by 1,500 professionals in lifelong learning from four countries. Community Education Associate Director Amy Fleshner received the award notification for Parkland College.

Draves said the LERN International Award represents innovation in the field of lifelong learning and serving communities.

"With over a hundred award nominations, gaining an International Award is an outstanding achievement," he said. "These awards enhance the quality and involvement in lifelong learning, an absolutely critical component to individual and community quality of life and prosperity in this century."
