Computers in Business Certificate to Launch in August
Students can pace earning 6-hour certificate through Computer Technology Center
A new certificate program at Parkland College this fall will help people with minimal computer skills gain a working knowledge of computers as used for business.
Students in the six-hour Introduction to Computers in Business certificate can earn the certificate by taking six convenient, one-credit-hour online courses through the school’s Computer Technology Center. The courses are designed to be learned at students' own pace with an open-entry, open-exit format.
The certificates gives students a working overview of the computer, including keyboarding, file management, and Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Google applications. For those with limited skills, the certificate will also bridge access into entry-level employment or into Parkland College’s Business Administrative Technology programs.
The new certificate will also assist in closing the widening gap between those who have computer skills and those who do not in Champaign County. Those wishing to take Introduction to Computers in Business courses may apply to Parkland College at www.parkland.edu/apply or call Cyndia Hinton, Program Manager, Business/Computer Science and Technologies at 217/351-2414 or chinton@parkland.edu for more information.
