Medical Insurance
Parkland College provides health insurance for eligible employees (permanent employees working 1400 hours or more per year) through a self-funded insurance plan. Our third party administrator for medical insurance is Health Alliance Medical Plans (HAMP).
There is one plan option for health insurance - the Qualified High Deductible Health Plan (QHDHP). Pharmacy benefits are included with the health plans. View our Schedule of Benefits for plan details.
- $0 premium for Single or Family coverage
- $4,500 in-network deductible for Single coverage
- $6,500 in-network deductible for Family coverage

Dental Insurance
Our third party administrator is Dominion National. View our Dental Summary of Benefits for plan details.
- $0 premium for Single Coverage, $4.50 premium for Family Coverage
Life Insurance
Parkland provides twice your base salary in basic term life insurance benefits. This policy is double indemnity. Supplemental coverage for you and your family is available at group rates. Coverage is underwritten by Reliance Standard.
Long-Term Disability Insurance
The disability plan pays 60% of your base salary after a ninety-day elimination period. Coverage is underwritten by the Reliance Standard Insurance Company. Premium paid by Parkland College.
State Universities Retirement System
Employees in eligible positions are enrolled in the State Universities Retirement system.
Section 125 Plan/Flexible Benefits
Employees may participate in the Flexible Spending or Dependent Day Care accounts. These programs are administered by Benefit Planning Consultants. Employees are also eligible to enroll in coverage programs available through AFLAC Insurance Company and can elect to have premiums payroll deducted.
Paid Time Off Benefits
Employees may earn vacation monthly and accrue sick leave and personal leave annually, based on employment category. Bereavement time off is also available.
In addition to these hours, the college is closed for fourteen holidays and eight Fridays during the summer.

Eligible employees may elect to participate in 403(b) or 457(b) plans.
