Medical Insurance
The plan is a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP). This means you pay more out-of-pocket before insurance starts covering costs. Prescription drug coverage is included. Plan benefits are managed by UMR, a subsidiary of United Healthcare. View benefit details (opens in PDF).

- $4,500 in-network deductible for Single coverage
- $6,500 in-network deductible for Family coverage

Dental Insurance
Dental benefits are managed by Dominion National. View dental benefits (opens in PDF).

- $4.50 premium for Family Coverage
Life Insurance
Parkland provides life insurance with a benefit amount of twice your annual salary. This plan also includes extra protection if death is caused by an accident. You can buy more coverage for yourself and your family at a lower group rate. Plan benefits are managed by Reliance Standard Insurance Company.
Long-Term Disability Insurance
The disability plan covers 60% of your regular salary if you are unable to work for 90 days or more. The plan is provided by Reliance Standard Insurance Company, and Parkland pays the full cost.
Retirement Benefits
Parkland enrolls eligible employees in the State Universities Retirement system (SURS). The definition of eligible employee is determined by Illinois Pension code.
Parkland also offers optional retirement plans like 403(b) and 457(b) for eligible employees.
Flexible Benefits
Employees can choose to set aside money for health or child care costs through the Flexible Spending or Dependent Day care accounts. These are managed by Chard Snyder/WEX.
Employees can also sign up for extra insurance plans through AFLAC. If they choose, the cost can be taken out of their paycheck.
Time Off Benefits
Employees earn paid leave based on employment category. Bereavement time off is also available.
Parkland closes for 14 holidays annually and 8 Fridays during the summer.
