GROUPS FALL 2024:
Choosing Group Counseling
There are many benefits to group counseling, it is especially unique in the validation and connections formed when you feel seen and heard by your peers. For more information check out this brief article by the American Psychological Association: Understanding Group Therapy. The Counseling Support Center offers topic-specific groups throughout the academic year.
Holistic Healing Group
Our nervous system is responsible for a lot of the symptoms we experience when we are struggling with depression, anxiety, PTSD and trauma. Learning to work with and repair our nervous system greatly improves our overall quality of life. Through somatic techniques, breath work, movement and mindfulness, we will learn to harness our body's natural healing wisdom to help us better manage the stress of daily life. There will be two groups meeting in B223 each lasting 5 weeks. They will meet Thursdays 11 am – 12:00 pm. Group 1: September 3 – October 3; Group 2: October 24 – November 21
Women of Color: Sister Circles
This group is designed to support women of color in healing from generations of trauma. We will foster healing by drawing on both Eastern and Western modalities to build a strong sense of community and identify and address deep emotional wounds. By integrating alternative and clinical healing practices, alongside expressive arts, participants are guided through a transformative journey toward increased self-efficacy, improved self-esteem, and an overall enhanced quality of life. The group will meet in B223 and will last 10 weeks. Tuesdays at 1–2:30 pm September 17 – November 19.
