Explore the night sky with our friends from Sesame Street™. Join Big Bird, Elmo, and Hu Hu Zhu as they take a trip to the Moon. See how the Moon is different from the Earth and learn how to find the Big Dipper and North Star from your backyard. This interactive show was coproduced by the Adler Planetarium, Sesame Workshop, the Beijing Planetarium, and Liberty Science Center and comes to us through a grant from the PNC Foundation.

Exploren el cielo nocturno con sus amigos de Sesame Street. Únanse a Big Bird, Elmo y Hu Hu Zhu en una exploración de la Luna. Vean cómo la Luna es diferente a la Tierra y aprendan a encontrar el Gran Cucharón y la Estrella Polar desde su patio. ASTRONOMÍA A GRAN ESCALA

Astronomía a Gran Escala narra la historia de las personas y lugares que hacen posible la gran astronomía y la gran ciencia. El programa de planetario transporta a los espectadores a Chile, donde los cielos oscuros y el entorno seco y remoto crean las condiciones ideales para observar el Universo. Para el 2022, se espera que la mayor parte de la infraestructura de observación terrestre del mundo esté ubicada en Chile. Estados Unidos y otros países están invirtiendo miles de millones de dólares para promover asociaciones de astronomía en el país. Big Astronomy presenta al público la amplia variedad de personas involucradas en el avance del descubrimiento astronómico.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Dark Side of the Moon

LIGHT SHOW: DARK SIDE OF THE MOON

Fulldome light shows are back! The planetarium will offer a fulldome video set to Pink Floyd's classic albums on the first Friday each month at 9 pm. Note that these are not laser shows. The video is produced by Starlight Productions. Admission is $6 per person at the door. Advisory: These shows are not suited for those with motion sickness. Wish You Were Here plays in December. Noche de estrellas en Champaign NOCHE DE ESTRELLAS EN CHAMPAIGN

El Planetario Staerkel ofrecerá una función pública en Español via Zoom. El Viernes 7 de Mayo a las 7 pm vamos a presentar la función “Noche de Estrellas en Champaign”. El profesor Dr. Ricardo Covarrubias, quien enseña astronomía en Parkland College, estará a cargo de la presentación. 

The Staerkel Planetarium is offering a free public show in Spanish on Zoom! On May 7 at 7 pm, we will show “Noche de estrellas en Champaign”. The presenter, Ricardo Covarrubias Carreno, Ph.D., teaches astronomy at Parkland College.
