Travis Keller's vibrant, large-scale oil paintings of everyday experiences offer a fresh take on domestic life. He interprets his painting as a time-based media, searching for meaning and hope in daily rituals and memories of the everyday. Keller's process of creating his work involves the collection and collaging together of pictorial references from videos, photographs, drawings, and his own memory, all of which have varying degrees of clarity. Combining this ephemera, he depicts domestic moments at home, such as interacting with a pet or connecting with his partner.
Keller was born in Las Vegas, Nevada. The city lights of "Sin City" lingered in his memory after his family moved to a "Bible Belt" town in Arkansas. Travis developed his artistic skills early, as he was (and still is) inspired by comic books, cartoons, and movies. He received his BFA from the University of Arkansas in 2015 and recently completed his MFA in Painting from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He currently resides in Urbana, Illinois.
