Benjie Hue, He’s a Big Boy, Cone 6 stoneware, glaze, 2011, 26x12x7”, 2013Heu’s body of work, expressing a personal narrative of the most outlandish adventures, has been developed with an eye fixed on the bare essentials. Two themes that inspire his work are battles against time and battles against obstacles that keep one from fulfilling desire or repossessing lost but cherished things. His response to this inspiration is to reveal truth and humor in the face of horror and the seemingly absurd.

Heu has an MFA from Ohio University and a BFA from the University of Montevallo. He maintains an active exhibition record of solo, group, juried, and invitational exhibitions. Recent exhibitions include Taiwan Ceramics Biennale at the Yingge Ceramics Museum in New Taipei City; Craftsmanship: Concept: Innovation: Red Clay National at the Red Lodge Clay Center in Red Lodge, Montana; and a solo exhibition at Craft Alliance in St. Louis.
