The Parkland Art Gallery proudly announced the 2005 Parkland Student Digital Media Juried Exhibition and Award winners. A jury of professionals in animation and graphic design selected the year’s best student work in graphic design, web design, and computer animation.
Ten monetary awards were presented to students with exceptional artworks. They include Stacy Dow (Mahomet), President's Award for artistic excellence; Karl Bauer (Urbana), Dr. David and Shirley A. Jones Student Art Award for a work of outstanding artistic achievement; Scott Walker (Tolono), Mass Communication Program Director’s Award; Rebecca Grossner (Champaign), Precision Graphics Award for Excellence; Wally Tatar (Thomasboro), Electric Pictures Award; and Carmen Enriquez (St. Joseph), Fine and Applied Arts Department Chair Award. The Computer Science and Information Technology department award winners were: Laura Cosner (Urbana) for Best 3-D Computer Generated Still and the Department Chair Award; Lucas Walker (Champaign), Best 3-D Computer Generated Animation; and Alex Jerez-roman (Chimaltenango, Guatemala), 3D Technical Achievement Award.
Three student artists, whose works were deemed excellent, received Merit Awards: Nathan Wilds (New Manchester), Matthew Barnes (Champaign), and Stacy Dow.
Wally Tartar also received the Juanita Gammon Scholarship for 2005-2006.
