High school students (class of 2023 or 2024) are eligible to apply for our paid internship for the summer of 2024!

Giertz Gallery was awarded a Summer Youth Employment Grant from the Illinois Arts Council through federal funds from the National Endowment for the Arts. This grant marks the fifth time Giertz Gallery has received funds for this internship program.

In addition to providing a source of income for the summer, this internship offers youth planning to continue their education in an art-related profession an excellent opportunity to investigate careers in the arts. Through meaningful on-the-job training, students will develop an awareness of the work involved in a nonprofit arts organization and educational environment, gain a better understanding of the role of the arts in communities, develop practical skills, and build self-confidence essential to future career paths.

Interns will work approximately 15 hours per week for up to 12 weeks at a $14/hour pay rate. To apply, students will need to fill out the online application, provide a brief resume, and submit two letters of recommendation (one from their art teacher is preferred). Letters of recommendation may be attached to the application or emailed to hr@parkland.edu.
