Perimeter Road

Perimeter Road is Parkland College's student-staffed record label. Under the umbrella of Parkland Presents, the label provides interested students an opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills they learn in the classroom to real-world experiences in the music business.

Students work with faculty advisor Adam Porter and coordinator Deane Geiken. “One of my favorite things about my role at the record label is seeing the students work together to create something new from scratch that they can be proud of,” Porter said. “Releasing a great song into the world is a wonderful feeling, and providing that opportunity to students is super rewarding.”

The label specializes in recording, mixing, event planning, music distribution, branding and promotion, artist development, and more.

“The label members work in a collaborative team environment, and it really brings out the best in everyone, while leading to some great friendships along the way,” Porter said. “One of the coolest things we have done over the years is our live music festivals. Bringing so many amazing local bands to campus and seeing the record label students run the show and mix for the bands has been awesome.”

Porter added: “First and foremost, I just want to continue providing real-world opportunities to students interested in music production and/or music business. Beyond that, we hope to increase exposure for our releases, work with more awesome local bands, and put on more live shows.”

The record label actively recruits employees and artists at the beginning and end of each semester. Students who are interested in being a part of the staff can submit an application to the record label coordinator.
