Wellness Center Functions
The Wellness Center is a health and wellness resource center and referral service, located in L122, and is staffed by a Wellness Coordinator who is able to refer to appropriate health care providers based on available resources and health care need. Some of the services that are provided by the Wellness Center include:
- Collaborating with various college departments to provide various health events, programs and initiatives.
- Being available to provide health information to individuals, groups and classes.
- Writing health related articles for various publications.
- Making referrals to various community agencies and health care providers.
- Maintaining health records for health career students.
- Assisting in finding information about specific health related topics.
- Providing assistance to persons who want to quit smoking.
- Providing assistance with stress management.
- Providing alcohol and other drug education.
- Coordinating blood drives.
- Providing blood borne pathogen training to at-risk employees.
- Following up on reportable communicable disease exposure to ensure campus safety.
- Coordinating the Christie health series on the Parkland TV channel.
