Major: Media Communication
Media Communication program graduate Amber Simmons says there is a reason to get involved in student clubs and organizations at Parkland College.
“Some people think that getting involved with the school will not help them in the future, but it is actually the complete opposite,” says the Mahomet resident. “Getting involved helps you develop as an individual.”
A Dean’s List and Honors Program student while at Parkland, Amber kept herself busy with work on the school newspaper, the Parkland Prospectus, as well as with service as co-president of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society and in Parkland Student Government. She plans to transfer in spring 2014 to complete her degree, with hopes to work ultimately as a travel journalist or for a major publishing company.
“The amount of organizations available here at Parkland, and the dedication and resources of the school, all work to help students succeed; they’ve had a big impact on my education. Get involved!”
