Meet Faces of Parkland

Christopher Holmes

Christopher Holmes
Hometown: Urbana, IL
Major: Biology (Pre-medicine)
Interests: Fishing, traveling, basketball

He may not have been very involved in high school, but Christopher Holmes is making up for it at Parkland College! President of Parkland’s chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society of two-year colleges, Chris is also one of the college’s Student Ambassadors, an elite group of students who represent Parkland at various events and give organized tours of the College.

Although he was not always involved service-wise, Chris has always been “ambitious; I always want to learn the most and be the best.” With his 4.0 GPA and inspired by Sir Isaac Newton, Chris has been on Parkland’s Dean’s List and dreams of becoming an ophthalmological surgeon. He says he appreciates “the hands-on learning here at Parkland; the small classes and great teachers encourage me and promote an inviting learning atmosphere.” Chris’ ambitious nature extends to sport as well…consider his “unconquerable ping-pong skills,” for example. Hmm…sounds like a challenge, doesn’t it? :-)

Chris is a student worker for the college’s Admissions Department; if you don’t find him there, however, look in the most obvious place—the Library Quiet Zone!
