At Parkland, you’ll work with professional musicians who are also
excellent teachers. Core music courses are taught by full-time, tenured
faculty who hold doctorates in music composition from the University of
Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Adjunct faculty hold degrees from
institutions such as the UIUC, the Eastman School of Music, and the
Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Many faculty are published authors and
BMI composers.
You’ll receive individualized attention in
small classes where you’ll study music theory, aural skills, class
piano, and music history. In Parkland’s state-of-the-art music computer
labs, you’ll become adept at computer programs like Finale Notation
software, Digital Performer sequencing software, and Band-in-a-Box.
Parkland’s music program includes private instruction and the
opportunity to develop your talents by performing with professional and
student musicians in choral, instrumental, and jazz ensembles. You’ll
also have opportunities to perform in musical theatre productions,
either onstage or in the orchestra.
