The Parkland College Department of Public Safety provides service-oriented functions to a college community of nearly 10,000 faculty, staff, and students. The department employs 13 full-time sworn police officers, along with one full-time security patrol officer. Parkland's central dispatch center is staffed 24 hours a day.

The Department of Public Safety is the designated emergency response unit for the campus. Officers are trained in emergency medical, hazardous material, severe weather, and law enforcement response.
