Parkland radio station WPCD FM recently earned a Program Excellence Award from the Champaign Park District Board of Commissioners.
The award is given to individuals who significantly contribute to Champaign Park District parks, programs and facilities. WPCD is receiving the award for media support during the park district’s Zombie Run, a 2-plus-mile race held in October. WPCD Radio Director Eleni Kametas said the station offered promotional efforts on-air and through a live "War of the Worlds"-type broadcast.
WPCD staffers will receive the award during the commissioners’ next board’s meeting, on Wednesday, Dec. 12 at the Bresnan Meeting Center.
