MEET THE PROS lecture: Doug Burgett
Wednesday, September 11
Noon - 1 p.m., Room C118
Local artist Doug Burgett, creative director for the University of Illinois Office of Communications for Enrollment Management, will provide a free lecture for Parkland College's MEET THE PROS series on Wednesday, September 11. His talk will be held from noon to 1 p.m. in Room C118 at the campus and is open to the public.
In his presentation, Burgett will discuss discoveries and ongoing struggles with merging art, design, work, and play within his life. He'll talk about his transformation from being a naturally creative child to an institutionalized young professional to a rebel without a cause, showcasing examples and cracking jokes along the way.
Burgett earned his bachelor's degree in graphic design and began his career within the Office of Creative Services. His team is responsible for the marketing and communication needs of nine units at the University, including the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. He regularly presents both regionally and nationally on a variety of topics, such as web, design, and the creative process. In the past he has taught web design for the University of Illinois School of Art and Design, and he currently serves as chair for the University of Illinois Webmasters.
MEET THE PROS is presented by Graphic Design at Parkland College and sponsored by CUDO and 40 North/88 West.). For more information about this event, visit http://gds.parkland.edu/pros. Find more information about Jim at gds.parkland.edu/pros.
