Enjoy choral renditions of favorite holiday songs when the Parkland Chamber Singers and Parkland Chorus present "Sing We Now: Joyous Songs of the Season," featuring special guests the Urbana High School Honor Choirs and Vocal Chords Required.
The concert will be held Sunday, Dec. 9 at 7 p.m. at McKinley Presbyterian Church, 809 S. Fifth St. in Champaign. Admission is free.
Barbara Zachow conducts the Parkland Chamber Singers and the Parkland Chorus. The Chamber Singers, with Kristina Engberg as accompanist, will perform
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer by Johnny Marks and
I Could Have Danced All Night by Frederick Loewe. The Parkland Chorus, with Sunny Choo as accompanist, will perform a variety of selections, including
Gaudate from
Piae Cantiones, arranged by Robert A. Boyd;
Hine Ma Tov arranged by Lon Berry; and
Sinfonia Sacra, Movement III by Daniel Pinkham.
Director Torance Douse will lead a joint chorus of the UHS Honor Choirs and Vocal Chords Required. They will perform
Here We Come A-Caroling,
Deck the Hall,
Angels We Have Heard on High, and
Carol of the Bells.
The concert also will feature guest ushers from Lincoln's ChalleNGe Academy. The cadets are earning community service points for their participation in
