Recent Additions

In an effort to better serve you, we are constantly reviewing our web page, incorporating helpful additions and changes.  Some of the most recent additions include:

Suggestion Box
        Are there books, CDs, or videos we don't own and should, to better support Parkland's curricula? Do you have a suggestion of any kind that would help us to serve you better?  A link to our Suggestion Box has been added to our homepage with the hope of encouraging our users — you — to let us know what we might be doing differently to improve Library services.

Electronic Reference Books
        For some time we have provided links to several electronic reference books, most of them available by subscription only. These are authoritative sources, created by reputable producers of reference materials. The Oxford English Dictionary, the Encyclopedia of Life Sciences, the Physician's Desk Reference, and the Grove Dictionary of Art Online are a few examples.

     We want our users to get to the information they need conveniently and quickly.  We recently improved access to our electronic reference books simply by making the list of them more prominent. For a full, but still-growing list, click on Books, CDs, Videos from our homepage and take a look. Handy links to these sources are also provided on our Reference Online and Find Articles pages.

Virtual Illinois Catalog
     On the Books, CDs, Videos page we have also added a link to the Virtual Illinois Catalog, or VIC, a catalog developed by the State Library, the Illinois Library System Directors Organization, and the regional Library Systems. With it, you can search the holdings of 600 Illinois libraries to determine the location, call number, and availability of a specific item.
