Art Alive in the Library

The Art Annex at the Library has attracted much interest from artists wishing to exhibit their work, and from students who find themselves studying in the newest art space on campus. A collaboration between Parkland Art Gallery and the Library, The Annex provides an opportunity for our students, faculty, staff, and alumni to showcase their art. Through this experience students gain professional experience in exhibiting their work, faculty and staff are provided with the means to exhibit their talents and promote their programs, and alumni gain exposure within the community and serve as role models for future graduates. Three exhibits have been shown since its inception. Don Lake and his students launched the space with a strong collection of watercolors made during a painting trip to the Isle of Wight in 2005. a class views the exhibitJudy Dethmers exhibited a striking collection of paintings, which included large scale portraits of her family. Approximately one show every six weeks is scheduled throughout the year.
