Got Scores?

poster about the grantWant to sing "Defying Gravity?"  Do you "wanna be a producer?" Or perhaps you'd like to "Send in the clowns?" You can sing or play all these (and more) with new additions to the Parkland Library collection. 

In late 2005, the Parkland Library received a grant to collect materials in musical theater, through the CARLI (Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Illinois) cooperative collection management program. CARLI collection grants are designed so that libraries work together to create excellent statewide collections in various subject areas. The CARLI libraries belong to I-Share, so the materials can be lent to students and faculty throughout the state. The purpose of this particular grant was to create a statewide collection of music education resources to support students preparing to be music teachers, current music educators, and the general public with an interest in music learning. 

Parkland's role in the grant project was to collect scores (piano, vocal and conductor), DVDs of musical productions, and histories and compilations on American musical theater. We had a lot of fun selecting resources!  Here's a selected list of some of the materials purchased:
