Good-bye ...
Hello
As the fall semester began we said goodbye and
hello to several members of the library staff.
Jill Coe,
access services coordinator, left us at the end
of the summer to begin a master's degree from
the Graduate School of Library and Information
Science at the University of Illinois
Urbana-Champaign. We wish Jill all the very best
with her studies and wish her an auspicious
future as a librarian.
Pat Zeibart
has taken a position as a librarian at Pitts
Theology Library on the Emory University campus
in Atlanta, Georgia. Pat began working with us
as a practicum student while attending the
Graduate School of Library and Information
Science at the University of Illinois. For the
past year, Pat was employed as a part-time
information services librarian and was
responsible for many creative and engaging
displays within the Library. We wish Pat all the
very best in her new career.
We are happy to welcome Jane Smith to the
Library. Jane began her duties on August 14 as
the information services and instruction
librarian in the Library's Information Services
unit. Jane gained her master's in Library and
Information Science from Dominican University in
River Forest, Illinois, a bachelor's degree in
English from Illinois State University, and an
associate's degree in English from Danville Area
Community College. She was most recently a
librarian at Ames Library, Illinois Wesleyan
University. Jane's office R228 is located near the
Information Desk, and she can be reached at
217-351-2410 and
janesmith@parkland.edu. Come by and
introduce yourself; and if you teach a class, go
ahead and schedule your instruction sessions at
the same time.
Also joining the Information Services unit as a
part-time information services librarian is
René Erlandson. René provides reference and
research assistance at the information desk and
teaches library instruction sessions. René
received a master's degree in Library Science
from UIUC and a bachelor's degree in History
from Iowa State University. She can be contacted
at
rerlandson@parkland.edu and 217-373-3839.
Please join us in welcoming René to the Parkland
community.
We hired several new student assistants
this fall from places near and far. Enthusiastic
and curious, our student employees come from
Champaign, China, Columbia, India, Indonesia,
Jordan, Nigeria, Rantoul, and Russia.
