National Library Week

Something for Everyone @ Your Library®

National Library Week 2005 is a time to celebrate the contributions of libraries, librarians and library workers to their schools, campuses and communities. This year marks the fifth anniversary of The Champaign for America's Libraries, a multi-year public education campaign sponsored by the American Library Association and libraries across the country to speak loudly and clearly about the value of libraries and librarians in the 21st century. More than 20,000 libraries in all 50 states are being reached by @your library®, The Champaign for America's Libraries. www.ala.org

Parkland College Library will be celebrating too. Parkland's Library is a dynamic and changing place that has something for everyone: books, magazines, movies, CDs, databases, Internet access, expert searchers, space for reflection and study ... and a network of other libraries to go to for the things we don't have locally. Our staff of dedicated and knowledgeable experts is here for you.

Help us celebrate the amazing work that happens each day in all kinds of libraries across the country and beyond, by taking part in our National Library Week events:

starVisit us, or any other library, and celebrate. Check out a good read (bestseller or classic) or a movie (international films are our specialty), find a quiet spot to study or reflect (or maybe snooze!), sit among the stacks and use your own laptop with the wireless network, ask a really hard question to see if the librarian can find an answer! And while you're going, take a child along with you and give him or her the opportunity to experience the uniqueness of a place that allows people to borrow things on trust without asking for a deposit. Where else does this happen? Send family and friends NLW e-cards from American Greetings to spread the word that libraries, and Parkland Library, have something for everyone.
