"... And why the sea is boiling hot,
And whether pigs have wings."

-- Lewis Carroll

Officer Jim Hand was guest at the Library's February department meeting.  Jim is the Library's Public Safety liaison, and he discussed how the Department of Public Safety serves the College.  He answered questions related to safety, made suggestions on how we should best handle situations, and advised us when intervention is needed.

Notice anything different?  This is the beginning of the fifth year that Parkland Library's newsletter has been "published," and to mark that accomplishment, the newsletter has a new title!  Out with the old Library News, and in with Unshelved.  Let us know what you think of our quarterly newsletter and how the Library can better serve you.  Our online Suggestion Box is a convenient way to voice your comments.

Got PCETV?  You certainly don’t want to miss anything, and now, you don’t have to …..

Many of the programs aired on Parkland’s Educational Channel, PCETV, are available on videotape in the Parkland Library.  If you are already a PCETV viewer who would like to revisit a particularly interesting program, or if you do not currently receive the Parkland channel, you can still enjoy all the programs that PCETV has to offer!

The following is a small sampling of titles and subjects:

  • Job Story - Agriculture - More than Farming

  • Job Story – Automotive Technology and Collision Repair

  • Job Story – Landscape Design

  • Live and Learn – At the Parkland Theatre

  • Live and Learn – The Parkland Art Gallery – 20 years

  • The Parkland Report – Distance and Virtual Learning

  • For Arts Sake

  • Surrounded by Science

  • Plus…many, many more titles and subjects!

Stop by and let us know how we may help you "see" PCETV!

Requests for programs other than those in the Library's collection can be made by contacting Barbara Gladney, Program Manager for PCETV.

I find television very educating. Every time somebody turns on the set, I go into the other room and read a book.  -- Groucho Marx
