Parkland Library is Here for You

You've probably walked by the Library, maybe even sent students to the Library, but did you know it's filled with resources and services that can help you – in your work and life?

In the Parkland Library, you'll find books (including bestsellers and fun paperbacks), videos and DVDs (feature films can be borrowed for a week), over 300 popular and specialized magazines (so you can keep up with changes in your field), children's books and more.

For your personal development, we have books on financial planning, home renovation, time management, public speaking, etc. Right now, we have a selection of tax forms, and librarians can help you find information and forms on the IRS website.

You'll discover the Library's 3rd floor, nicknamed the Quiet Zone, is the place to find quiet – something that's often hard to find at Parkland. It's a great spot for lunchtime reading, contemplation, or even a short rest.

Have you ever needed information for your work? A statistic for a report? An example of a written policy or procedure? The Library's Information Services Librarians can help you! Maybe you are working on a degree. The Library may have the materials you need, and if it doesn't, you can ask about Interlibrary Loan service to borrow books from libraries across the country. The Information Services Librarians can also help you with research for papers and projects. They have access to (and can show you how to use) over 40 databases of electronic information. Also, librarians are expert Internet searchers and may turn up something you overlooked in a Google search.

Be sure to ask the Access Services staff at the Circulation Desk for assistance if the material you are looking for is not on the shelf.  They can help track down misplaced material or initiate a "search" for missing items.  If the desired item is checked out, ask them to place a "hold" on it and you will be notified when it is returned.  You can suggest materials which you think the Library should own and it will be considered for purchasing.  Use the form on our webpage, if you desire.

The Parkland Library staff is here to assist everyone at Parkland and that includes the employees of the professional support, confidential staff, and public safety officers groups. Drop in to ask a question, call us (ext.3839 Information Services or ext.2223 Access Services), or send an email to pro@parkland.edu

In short, if you need information – for personal or professional reasons – check out your Parkland Library!
