| Suggestion:
I wish the library stayed open 'til 10:00 as it used to do.
Many students still stay at the library studying, researching.
Solution: Thank you
for your suggestion. It's great to know that there are students who actually want to stay to research and study in a
library until 10 p.m.!
It's unfortunate that we had to cut hours
this semester. We certainly want to be as accessible and
patron-oriented as possible, and we really don't like turning people
away from our door. But due to budget constraints we found we
needed to reduce the Library hours of operation. We discussed
how we could cut hours with minimal disruption to patrons and
services. We decided that at the end of the evening when there
are fewer patrons would be preferable to the beginning of the day
when we have people waiting for the doors to open.
Let's hope that the economy and the
Illinois budget will improve in the not too distant future so that
we can return to our regular 10 p.m. closing. Should you need
to continue researching after the Library closes, don't forget about
our online electronic resources. They are accessible 24/7 from
off-campus via ORCA. Login with your Parkland e-mail account
and use them all night if you wish. (posted 10/03/2003)
Note: After January 1 you can
access the Library's electronic resources through "Parkland Connection."
