Out and About

smiley faceAnna Maria Watkin attended the 11th national ACRL conference, "Learning to Make a Difference," in Charlotte, NC.  Sessions included Issues of Copyright and Intellectual Property, USA Patriot Act, The Role of the Academic Library in the Higher Education Environment, and Teaching Information Literacy Skills.  She also participated in the annual NILRC retreat at Allerton Park.

smiley faceCliff Bishop attended Parkland College's 2003 Leadership Development Seminar at Eagle Creek Resort and Conference Center.

smiley faceLori Sprague, Rena Moore, and Nancy Bode attended "On the Front Lines" conference sponsored by the Illinois State Library.  The day included sessions on customer service, copyright, disruptive patrons, and interlibrary loan.

smiley faceMary Manley and Frances Drone-Silvers attended the QuestionPoint Pilot Training Session at Edwardsville Public Library.

smiley faceRaeann Dossett attended the 2003 National LOEX Conference, "Reflective Teaching: A Bridge to Learning," in Madison, WI.

smiley faceAnna Maria Watkin, Raeann Dossett, Cliff Bishop, Nancy Bode, and Rena Moore attended a NILRC-sponsored workshop, "Navigating Through the Prevailing Winds of the 3C's" at Moraine Valley Community College.

smiley faceRena Moore and Virginia Stout attended a workshop, "Repairing and Maintaining Audiovisual Materials," at Lincoln Trail Libraries System.

smiley faceMacbeth, was presented in Meadowbrook Park by Lady Chamberlain's Women and the Urbana Park District.  This all-female cast version of Shakespeare'e classic included Raeann Dossett in the role of Duncan, King of Scotland, and Anna Maria Watkin providing backstage coordination.

Looking Ahead

  Raeann Dossett, Instruction and Outreach Librarian, will be teaching a new course in the Fall.  Information Literacy, LAS 111, is a one credit-hour course that will focus on putting life in "the information age" into a thoughtful context and developing critical information skills that are necessary for college success.  An advisor or counselor can help students register for LAS 111.
