Suggestion Box

Suggestion:  It would be great if you could use a driver's license as a library card.  I usually forget my Parkland ID as it does nothing and makes me ugly.

Solution:  I admit my wallet is full of seemingly useless cards.  However, the Parkland College ID card serves many useful purposes.  It serves as your Library card and is a requisite for all patrons in order to check out items from the Library.  Your personal ID number is barcoded on the ID card.  Thisidentification card number is scanned into our system, not typed.  This method is preferable to typing in numbers and is very accurate.  Your ID card also proves to us that you are currently enrolled in classes on campus.  A driver's license is not adequate for these purposes.
     Other uses of your Parkland ID card:
     *  pick-up loan or student employment checks
     *  cash a minimum $10.00 check on campus
     *  business and financial transactions
     *  voting in student elections
     *  admission to athletic events, movies
     *  planetarium shows, lectures, special shows and events
     *  discount rates for field trips and tours
     *  computer lab use
     *  fitness center use
     *  to petition to graduate
     *  for book vouchers
     *  sell back books at the end of a semester

Suggestion:  I think the library should get more recent documentaries and movies.

Solution:  We do purchase new videotapes and DVDs all the time, primarily in response to requests from faculty who expect to use the material in their classes.  Use for instruction is our main criterion for anything we purchase for the collection, but we do want to meet other needs as well, and we actively seek recommendations from our users.video tape
     So what do you think we should get?  Do you know of any titles, whether movies or documentaries, you'd especially like to see in the Library's collection?  You can submit requests at the Suggestion Board, or via the Suggestion Box on our webpage.  (Go to Online Forms from the main page; or use the following URL and go directly to the form: http://www.parkland.edu/library/onsugg.htm).
     If you're interested in broad topics and don't know particular titles, please stop in and talk with our Information Services staff.  They can help you locate specific titles for you to consider.

More comments and replies are posted on the Suggestion Board in the Library.  You may also browse through the notebook of previously posted comments and replies. Suggestions may also be submitted via our online Suggestion Box.
